Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence based therapy designed for people who experience intense emotions, relationship difficulties, impulsive behaviors, or emotional sensitivity that feels hard to manage. It is especially helpful for individuals who feel stuck in cycles of emotional overwhelm or crisis.

DBT uses four connected parts to support change: individual therapy to work on personal goals and challenges, DBT skills class to learn and practice coping skills, 24/7 phone coaching to support skill use in real time when emotions are high, and therapist consultation team to ensure high quality and effective care. Together, these parts help people learn to regulate emotions, tolerate distress, communicate more effectively, and make choices that support a more stable and meaningful life.

At its core, DBT is about helping you build a life that feels more meaningful and aligned with what matters to you.

“A life worth living is built one small, skillful choice at a time.”

    1. Individual therapy
Individual therapy focuses on helping you apply DBT skills to your real life. Sessions are used to understand patterns that are keeping you stuck, reduce behaviors that are getting in the way of your goals, and increase effective behaviors that build a life worth living.

    2. Skills training group
Skills group is where you learn practical skills to manage emotions, navigate relationships, and stay present. It is structured like a class.

    3. Phone coaching
Phone coaching provides brief, in-the-moment support to help you use DBT skills when you need them most. If you are struggling in real time, you can reach out to your therapist for help choosing and applying a skill so you can cope effectively.

    4. Therapist consultation team
The consultation team is a support system for your treatment providers. DBT therapists meet regularly as a team to ensure they are providing effective treatment.
